For Big Kids & Young Makers
Big Kids Build Here, Too
Owlchemy isn’t only for little kids.
Older children can invent, engineer, experiment, and create through hands-on activities that keep curious minds engaged.
Whether your child loves technology, art, building, robots, or figuring out how things work, there is plenty to explore during a two-hour Open Play visit.
Design Something Real
Design It. We’ll 3D Print It.
Children can create a custom design during Open Play, and Owlchemy will 3D print it for pickup later.
Choose from two design experiences:
Design a Cute Flexi Magnet
Customize an articulated character by choosing its features, accessories, and colors. This guided design experience is a fun option for children who want to create something uniquely their own.
Create an Original 3D Print
Recommended for ages 7 and up.
Experiment with digital 3D design and turn an original drawing or idea into a real object. Children can design a name sign, creature, piece of art, or another simple creation.
Custom 3D printing is available as an optional add-on. Finished designs are printed after the visit, and families will be contacted when they are ready for pickup.
Build, Test and Improve
Older makers can:
- Build large cardboard creations using Makedo tools and a Chomp Saw
- Design and test creations in the Wind Tunnel
- Engineer pathways on the magnetic wall
- Construct chain reactions, towers, and moving builds
- Test their ideas, make changes, and try again
At Owlchemy, the first attempt does not have to work. Testing, rebuilding, and trying again are part of the fun.
Explore Technology and Science
Children can also:
- Code and control robots
- Create working projects with Snap Circuits
- Investigate magnets, light, mirrors, and reflections
- Experiment with air, movement, balance, and cause and effect
- Take on open-ended building and engineering challenges
Is Owlchemy Right for My Older Child?
Owlchemy may be a great fit for an older child who enjoys:
- Building and inventing
- Art and design
- Robots and technology
- Science experiments
- Solving problems
- Experimenting and figuring out how things work
- Creating projects instead of following one set of instructions
Our activities are open-ended, so children can make them as simple or as challenging as they would like.
Good to Know
Our active-play climbing equipment has a maximum user weight of 100 pounds.
The 100-pound limit applies only to the active-play climbing equipment. All other activities remain available to children who cannot use that equipment. They can still enjoy Owlchemy’s building, engineering, robotics, circuits, 3D design, Wind Tunnel, art, magnetic-wall, and other hands-on activities.
Adult supervision is required, and all visitors must follow posted equipment and safety rules.
